1st time application of Paws and Claws.
A suggested procedure that is especially useful when caring for cats.
On occasion, pet owners have reported a phenomenon that could signal a particular pet's sensitivity to the presence of cedar oil. As a precautionary measure, the following agenda for first use of Paws and Claws is recommended:

Begin with application to lower parts of the body such as paws and/or legs. Gradually work your way up your pet's body by applying in sections. Allow time between each section to observe your pet's behavior. For example, you may start with application to paws and legs, when comfortable add to belly areas, again when comfortable add to upper back and finally, you may wish to apply to facial areas. Always avoid contact with eyes. Spray the formula into palm of your hand and rub onto pet's face whenever facial application is desired. Work all of the above to a time schedule such that you feel assured that your pet is comfortable with the presence of cedar oil. We recommend using the above procedure for a day or two.

Signs of possible objection may begin with excessive grooming. All pets groom. Cats in particular have been reported to groom in an apparent attempt to remove cedar oil. During the grooming process, your pet may overly ingest the formula and could develop an upset stomach. Some pet owners have reported noticing a lethargic appearance in their pet after ingesting the solution. Others have observed their pet regurgitate a white foamy substance. Cat owners in particular have reported more susceptibility to these signs of objection. If observed with your pet, rinse the formula from applied areas and discontinue use. Make sure your pet has plenty of fresh water available to drink.

Paws and Claws users have also suggested the above could simply be a process of an individual pet becoming accustomed to the presence of cedar oil. Some have ultimately had success with subsequent cautious use. You know you pet best! Use of any cedar oil insect control product is at the sole discretion of the individual pet owner.

How to treat with cedar oil for existing flea, tick or mite infestations:
This treatment agenda will neutralize and remove localized parasitic activity helping to heal damaged skin.
Note: Dr. Ben's cedar oil aroma in large concentration could become overwhelming. Heavy applications should be performed in well ventilated areas to avoid discomfort for you or your pet.

Concentrate heavy spray applications to all affected areas or hot spots. Apply at least 3 times or more daily depending on your individual results. Do not rinse. Anti microbial properties of cedar oil will naturally stimulate your pet's defenses to repair damaged skin. Promotes hair re-growth.

How to treat with cedar oil for ear mites or other insect related problems of the ears:
Applications of Dr. Ben's in the ear will help neutralize ear mites and chronic fungal organism issues.

Be sure you to familiarize yourself with cautionary procedures when dealing with ears.
There are many reputable articles available on the internet with good advice regarding animal ear care procedure. We encourage you to do a little research regarding acceptable methods and tools for caring for your pet's ears.

If you suspect a recurring source of fleas, ticks or mites may be originating from your pet's periodic outdoor activities, be sure to check the related products tab on this page for cedar oil insect control recommendations that are designed specifically for outdoor use.
